A university education does not / will not / can not imbue you with life lessons. None whatsoever: that’s not what it’s there for. A university is there for academic degrees and doffing you on the head.
Some legends are just too bonkers to be untrue: Imagine a group of monks, wandering lost and afraid, being guided to their destination by a milkmaid in search of a lost cow. That’s just silly. But that silliness is part of the founding myth of Durham City.
